In 1996, while most of his contemporaries were probably playing video games, Kyle Kaatz was writing trapping books. A quick learner and an ambitious young trapper, Kaatz shared his knowledge in the book “Land Trapping Made Simple”.

In about 100 pages, “Land Trapping Made Simple” covers the very basics of most every topic on the subject of land trapping, primarily for fox, coyote and raccoon. From scouting and getting permission to trap, to actual land trapping sets, trap types and modifications, lures and fur handling, each topic explains just about enough to get a beginning trapper started.

If you’re looking for an in-depth book on the intricacies of land trapping, this isn’t it. It also isn’t the resource for the most up-to-date trapping information – we’ve come a long ways in trap design and equipment modifications in the past couple of decades. But for a new trapper looking for a quick guide to get started on the trapline, or a youngster just getting going, “Land Trapping Made Simple” is ideal, and it provides a great starting point in your search for trapping knowledge.
