Maine Trappers Association Fur Auction Results: 12/2014

December 15, 2014 by Jeremiah 8 Comments

MaineTrappersLogoBelow are fur price results from the Maine Trappers Association’s annual Central Maine Fur Auction.  Though not applicable to fur prices everywhere, this auction is held annually and can be a good indicator of what the fur market is going to bring the rest of the season.

It’s looking pretty poor.  I was particularly disappointed to see the low marten and fisher prices.

The quantity column looks wrong, or maybe it’s a formatting issue. One bobcat? 20 fisher? These cannot be grand totals for a whole auction.

      Josh,
I believe those numbers are correct. It’s a small auction held early in the season, and most folks up here seem to send fur to NAFA. Bobcat numbers are low here as well. Though the quantities are low, I think they provide a good indicator of the general feel of the market right now, which is, unfortunately, quite poor. Hope it gets better!
