While many trappers across North America are only halfway through their season, some are already wrapping up. Regardless of where you’re at, it’s time to start shipping fur if you’d like to get in on the international fur auction action.
North American Fur Auctions will be holding three auctions this season: in late February, mid-May and early July. The last receiving date for the February auction is January 8th, so after that, fur you send won’t turn into a check until summer.
Fur Harvesters Auction holds the first sale of the year, January 9th. This is usually a small sale with select items of mostly northern fur. Their March sale is the big one. Unlike all of the other sales that take place in Ontario, the FHA March auction is held in Finland, and has commanded the best price averages of any major auction the past couple of years. Their final sale is in May.
Both auction houses have multiple options for getting your fur to them, including direct shipment and a network of pickup locations and depots. You can find more on their websites.
