Description
The 110 bodygrip trap (commonly called a 110 conibear) is a small, single spring body gripping trap that typically measures about 4.5″ square.
Uses
110’s are used for trapping small animals like the muskrat, mink, weasel and squirrel. They are sometimes used for other species, but typically are not considered powerful enough for marten and fisher.
Pro’s: cheap to purchase, easy to find, quick humane kill, works on a variety of animals
Con’s: inadequate for more powerful animals like marten and fisher. sometimes difficult to anchor
#110 (4.5×4.5 bodygrip trap) Makes and Models
Victor – the original, owns the ‘Conibear’ name, traps are a bit pricey but good
Bridger – well designed, well built, rugged, and affordable. Currently I consider these the best quality for the price.
Duke – more affordable, but less rugged. built of lower quality steel and don’t seem to hold up as well. a good entry level trap for folks on a budget who don’t need them to last forever.
Sleepy Creek – not to be confused, they use their own numbering system and call these the #450. Same size, same design. I haven’t used them but they seem a bit pricey.
Belisle – top of the line. out of my budget, but friends who use them swear by them. the most costly of all bodygrip traps, but very high quality steel and innovative design make these the pick for top notch trappers who target high quality fur over a long period of time.
