Miki and Julie Collins are twin sisters who decided to live life the old fashioned way. They inherited a trapline in the northern Alaska bush and never looked back. Here’s a video and a book about their experiences.
Those are some tough gals.
First time I’ve heard a trapper blame global warming for low marten density.
i am interested in all trapping i trapped for a living 50 years ago
Climate may or may not have caused the change in marten populations, or it could be related to the solar sunspot cycle, who knows? . Other animals such as grouse rabbits, bluebill ducks have swings in population too.
Climate change has been going on for billions of years. We are still emerging from the last ice age. I have to laugh at the climate extremists that think that if we stop burning fossil fuels, cut down our forests and bury the trees, and kill all the cows on Earth that somehow that will stop the climate from changing…it won’t. Parts of Alaska and Alberta had tropical climate with tropical plants and dinasaurs roaming around in prehistoric times. It is in the fossil record.
Our most realsitic goal is to learn how to adapt to our world as it changes and forget about trying to reverse it. The Earth has had mutiple ice ages and global warming and cooling. The factors that caused them will occur again and again as it has done in the past
